As 2023 draws to a close, we look back on standout moments from the last 12 months.

Micropsi and Fraunhofer Institute team up

Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation, we established a new laboratory to advance AI-powered solutions for complex automation problems. Our shared goal is to make cutting-edge automation technology accessible to a wider range of businesses. To this end, we created the Micropsi Industries Use Case Lab, located at the Fraunhofer Institute’s facility in Magdeburg, Germany. In our first major project, we integrated MIRAI, our AI-powered vision system, with a FANUC LR 10 robot to reliably execute a DIMM-insertion task, highlighting the MIRAI-equipped robot's capacity to dynamically adapt to varying conditions. This collaborative effort underlines our dedication to crafting comprehensive, intelligent solutions for industrial production and providing bespoke automation applications, complete with detailed guidelines to promote knowledge sharing and inspire innovation in the industry.

"New Product of the Year"

This past year was jammed with trade fairs and by extension opportunities to showcase MIRA. Among other events in the US, our team went to ATX West in Anaheim, Automate Show in Detroit, and Assembly Show in Chicago. One of our fair demos was a real showstopper. In it, a MIRAI-controlled FANUC robot adeptly inserts flexible gummy components into a gummy nut plate, showcasing MIRAI's ability to deal with positional variance. At the Assembly Show in October, MIRAI won the "New Product of the Year" award in the robotics category.

Joining forces with partners

The Cobot Day in Berlin, organized in collaboration with our partner Adolf Neuendorf, was a highlight event in Germany. Visitors could see three MIRAI-controlled collaborative robots in action, demonstrating the AI's ability to handle complex tasks. These tasks included handling flexible components and picking transparent or reflective workpieces. Joining forces with Adolf Neuendorf for this event offered our mutual customers a chance to discover and utilize the transformative power of AI in their production workflows.

In the US, we participated in various notable events alongside our distributor partners. A prime example was the Open House event that we co-hosted with Buchanan Automation in the Bay Area. This event attracted a wide audience and potential customers. Additionally, we were integral in supporting events with FPE Automation and Advanced Control Solutions' Roadshow, celebrating the launch of the UR20 from Universal Robots. These initiatives have been instrumental in not only deepening our partner relationships but also in fostering community connections.

CEO Gary Jackson

This month, Gary Jackson came aboard as CEO, succeeding Micropsi Industries cofounder Ronnie Vuine, who will focus on product development. This transition signals a new era for the company as we look ahead to future growth. Learn more about the recent management changes.

Reflecting on our past year's accomplishments, Micropsi Industries looks eagerly toward the future. We anticipate participating in more events, forging new partnerships, and continuing to drive innovation in AI and robotics.
